FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions we are asked about our joinery, building, renovation and property improvement services across the High Peak, North Derbyshire and Cheshire areas.

What areas do you cover?

We are proudly based in the High Peak and primarily work with homeowners and businesses across New Mills, Glossop, Hayfield, Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding North Derbyshire and Cheshire areas.

Are you fully insured and qualified?

Yes. Peace of mind is extremely important when choosing a builder or joiner. DBK Joiners and Builders are fully insured for residential and commercial work, and our team is made up of experienced, time-served tradespeople who work to high standards and current building regulations.

Do you handle both joinery and full building projects?

Absolutely. We offer a complete joinery and building service. Whether you need bespoke cabinetry, internal doors, fitted woodwork, a home renovation, a multi-storey extension or a full building project, we have the experience to manage the work from start to finish.

Can you help with the planning and design stage?

Yes. Many clients come to us with architectural drawings already prepared, but we can also offer practical advice during the early stages of a project. We can help you understand what may be structurally possible and work closely with local architects where required.

How do you handle building regulations and inspections?

We can liaise with Local Authority Building Control or private building inspectors on your behalf. We make sure the required inspections are arranged at the correct stages of the build, helping your project move forward smoothly and supporting the final completion certificate process.

Do you provide free, no-obligation quotes?

Yes. We provide clear, written quotations so you understand the expected costs before work begins. For larger projects, we are happy to visit your property, discuss your ideas in more detail and provide a more accurate estimate based on the work required.

How long will my project take to complete?

This depends on the size and complexity of the work. A smaller joinery or kitchen renovation project may take a couple of weeks, while a larger extension or full renovation could take several months. We will give you an estimated timescale during the quotation stage and keep you updated throughout the project.

Will I need to find my own electricians and plumbers?

No. We work with a trusted network of qualified electricians, plumbers and other specialist trades. This allows us to manage the wider project for you and make sure each stage is completed properly, safely and to the required standard.

Can you work on period properties and barn conversions?

Yes. We have strong experience working on traditional and period properties throughout the High Peak and surrounding areas. This includes work involving stone, lime mortar, heritage joinery and sympathetic restoration, helping new additions blend with the original character of the property.

How do you maintain a clean and safe worksite?

We understand that we are often working in someone’s home, not just on a building site. Our team aims to keep the work area as clean and tidy as possible at the end of each day, while following safe working practices to protect your property, your family and our tradespeople.
